Ajla Example Programs

Ajla Commander

Short named acmd it is similar to the Midnight Commander.

To run acmd from the downloaded Ajla directory, go into that directory and run ajla programs/acmd/acmd.ajla
Operations on large number of small files are faster than Midnight Commander thanks to multithreaded design.
Separately available for download and study in online acmd directory

DNG2PDF

Converts a raw DNG smartphone photo of a document into PDF using an advanced sharpening and lighting correction algorithm.

DNG2PDF requirements

Program dcraw (package name dcraw) must be installed to decode DNGs.
Program mutool (package name mupdf-tools) must be installed to compress and web-optimize the resulting PDF.

Downloading and using DNG2PDF

To run DNG2PDF, download dng2pdf.ajla and run ajla dng2pdf.ajla .
Running without parameters prints usage help.
Separately available for download and study in online dng2pdf directory

DNG2PDF examples

3 examples included: from Apple iPhone X, Google Nexus 6 and Huawei P9 Lite smartphones.
Each example contains DNG file from the smartphone, output with and without enhancement and half resolution output with enhancement.

DNG2PDF features

Supports rotations and flips and automatically chooses portrait or landscape paper.
Lens blur increases towards the corners. The sharpening algorithm increases sharpening strength towards the corners to compensate this.
Nonuniform lighting from camera flash is corrected as well.
A sharpening algorithm that doesn't produce edge overshoots is used: time reversed Gaussian blur.

Sunset calculator

Useful for outdoor walks so that you know when it's getting dark. Calculates civil dawn and dusk from GPS coordinates, timezone, and day of year.

Discover new Collatz numbers that have high ratio of steps to bit length, using brute force search (functions b/B,l/L,s/S)
Discover new Collatz numbers that have high ratio of steps to bit length, using heuristic backtracking in the Collatz graph (function r/R)
Examine Collatz conjecture numbers, especially in regard to the ratio of steps to bit length (functions c/C,p/P)
Sonification of Collatz sequences (function w/W) into a WAV file to stdout which you can play directly by piping into a media player
Example funny sounds like flying saucer taking off, alien signal
